Biographical Information
"Ms. Albert joined the TPW West team in 2010. She comes to the organization with a significant history of work in the non-profit sector. Prior to joining The Philanthropy Workshop West, she was the Manager of the California Committee North for Human Rights Watch, where she worked closely with the philanthropic community on fundraising, advocacy and outreach initiatives for the organization in the Bay Area and Silicon Valley. She was part of a dynamic team that in spite of a difficult economic climate, broke the million dollar fundraising mark for the first time in the region for their annual dinner. Prior to joining Human Rights Watch in 2007, she worked for several years in non-profit arts. She primarily worked as the Program and Administrative Manager for The Flaherty/International Film Seminars in New York, where among other things, she worked to organize and execute their annual documentary film festival. She also worked for New York Women in Film and Television, IFP, and the New York Film and Video Coalition. She has a B.A. in Sociology/Media Studies from Pitzer College and a Masters degree in Media Studies from The New School, where she focused on collective memory and the power of film to create social change."[1]
