Kumba Resources, (now known as Exxaro Resources) which is 66% owned by Anglo American, operates the
- Grootegeluk Mine, 120 kilometers north of Thabazimbi which produced 17 million tonnes;
- Leeuwpan Colliery in Mpumalanga province which produced 2.7 million tonnes; and
- Tshikondeni Mine in Venda which produced 600,000 tonnes.
