"Jolene Smith is the Executive Director and co-founder of Free the Slaves, a Washington, DC-based non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to eradicating modern slavery around the world. Free the Slaves conducts social science-based research, supports grassroots anti-slavery organizations, works to eliminate slave-made goods from product supply chains, educates the public about the existence of slavery and encourages governments to enforce anti-slavery laws. Before launching Free the Slaves, Jolene worked at the Center for International Policy and the Center of Concern, both in Washington, DC, and at Anderson Consulting in Houston, TX. She graduated from the University of Notre Dame where she was a Notre Dame Scholar and a recipient of the National Security Education Program scholarship to study Quichua in Ecuador." [1]
