James P. Toner, Jr.
James P. Toner, Jr. is the Manager, Political Involvement Programs for the Public Affairs Council.
According to his biogrpahical note on the PAC website, he joined the organisation in November 2000 and has responsibnility for Corporate Community Involvement, "Grassroots", International Government Affairs and International Public Affairs.
"With over 15 years of political experience, James has been involved in several grassroots campaigns including both issue and candidate, corporate and association, and private and public," his bio note states.
"Most recently James was Manager of Legislative Services at Stateside Associates for two years covering the areas of high technology and financial services. At Stateside he authored several pieces on the issues of privacy, technology and various legislative efforts. Prior to his tenure at Stateside, he was Community Relations Coordinator for Barnes & Noble in Houston, Texas where he organized many successful community partnerships with the company including the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, the University of Houston and the Texas Medical Center," his bio note states.
"Prior to his time in Houston, James was Corporate Communications Director for Community Development Partners, Inc. in Phoenix, Arizona, which worked on issues of inner city redevelopment. In this capacity he developed a grassroots network for the Van Buren Civic Association, directed corporate sponsorship alliances and was chief grant writer for the organization. James first came to Arizona as a Lobbyist for Bailey Consulting, which tackled issues of tort reform and auto insurance in several states. He served as Field Director for the firm's campaign in Phoenix entitled People for a Fair Legal System," his bio note states.
"James started his years of political involvement as Legislative Aide to Connecticut State Representative Norma Gyle and as staff for the General Assembly's Joint Public Health Committee. He has worked on over two-dozen issue and candidate campaigns on the local, state and federal levels in various capacities. A graduate of the University of Rhode Island, James earned a bachelor's degree in political science with minors in history and philosophy," his bio note states.
