James H. Ottaway, Jr. is Director, Ottaway Newspapers, Inc and a director of the International Center for Transitional Justice.
"In 2003, James Ottaway retired from his roles as chairman and CEO of Ottaway Newspapers, and senior vice president of Dow Jones & Company. He continues to serve as a director with both companies.
"In 1960, Mr. Ottaway began his journalism career as a reporter, bureau chief and later editor and publisher at several Ottaway newspapers in the mid-Atlantic region. When Ottaway Newspapers merged with Dow Jones in July 1970, Mr. Ottaway became his company's president. He was named CEO of Ottaway Newspapers in August 1976 and elected chairman of Ottaway's board of directors in 1979.
"Mr. Ottaway is chairman of the World Press Committee, an umbrella group of media organizations fighting against restrictions on press freedoms around the world. He is a member of the board of trustees of the American School of Classical Studies in Athens, Greece and also serves as a trustee of Bard College, and as treasurer of the Wallkill Valley Land Trust in New York. Born in Binghamton, New York, Mr. Ottaway graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy and Yale University." [1]
