"Jack Vaughn’s Vaughn Petroleum develops oil fields, while Vaughn Petroleum Royalty Partners, Ltd. owns oil rights on vast tracks of land. This royalty partnership announced in 2003 that it was studying a possible sale of oil rights in 12 states with estimated revenues of $4 million a year. Most of this value is concentrated in Texas and New Mexico. Then-Governor George W. Bush appointed Vaughn to the board of the Trinity River Authority. Jack Vaughn and Pioneer Vaughn Petroleum CEO Robert Vaughn are active Culver Military Academy alumni. They marched with Culver’s “Black Horse Troop” in George W. Bush’s 2001 inaugural parade.
