The Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture is the agricultural organization within the Organization of American States (OAS). It was founded as the Inter-American Institute of Agricultural Sciences (IICA) in 1942 and, for many decades, focused on the "modernization" of agriculture and on promoting trade.[1] Today, IICA is committed to "the sustainable development of agriculture, food security throughout the hemisphere, and prosperity in the rural communities of the Americas."
