Ian J. Macfarlane

"Mr Macfarlane is a graduate of Monash University in Melbourne. He was Governor of the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) from 1996 until 2006. During this time with the RBA, Mr Macfarlane was the inaugural Chairman of the Asian Consultative Council for the Bank of International Settlements. Mr Macfarlane held several senior positions within the RBA since joining in 1979. Prior to the RBA, he worked in the Economics Department of the OECD in Paris and at the Institute for Economics and Statistics at Oxford University. Mr Macfarlane is also a Director of ANZ Banking Group Limited since February 2007, Leighton Holdings Limited since June 2007 and of the Lowy Institute for International Policy since 2004. He is a member of the International Advisory Board of Goldman Sachs International. He was appointed a Director of Woolworths Limited in January 2007." [1]
