Grupo FARO (Foundation for the Advance of Reform and Opportunity) "is a civil society organization that creates spaces for action within the population to influence public policies at local and national level. Grupo FARO strives to become a diverse forum that contributes to the dissemination and implementation of ideas for the public wellbeing. They work to bridge civil society and policy-makers and to disseminate information necessary for a social, economic and political transformation of Ecuador. " [1]

"Grupo FARO is a think-and-do-tank, founded in 2004 by a dynamic group of young professionals who aimed to create a new model for state development. They sought to propose and promote innovative, sophisticated and sustainable public policies. History

"The Minister of Social Welfare, through Resolution 4618 on December 17, 2004, authorized the creation of Grupo FARO, as stated in Article 1 of that document.

"The resolution, signed by the former Under Secretary of Institutional Strengthening, Bolívar Gonzalez Arguello, recognizes the following founding partners of Grupo FARO: Orazio Bellettini Cedeno, Elizabeth Linn Coombs, Silvana Brunella Bellettini, Maria Jose Gil Llorenti, Jorge Ramírez Govea, Fernando Diego Straface, Alvaro Vivanco, Diego Grijalva Silva, Vinicio Atamaint Wanputsar, Camilo Paez Quevedo, Maria Paula Romo Rodríguez, and Carolina Vizcaíno Cevallos."
