"We were formed in 1999 by a small group of friends who believed policy makers on the Great Plains were not developing the necessary policy and conservation approaches to address the decline of rural grassland communities and the decline of grassland wildlife. We believed those issues were linked, so we set out to develop an organization that would focus on changing the way people in the region think about the grassland landscape."[1]
