Biographical Information
"Graeme Catto is Emeritus Professor of Medicine at the University of Aberdeen. He was President of the General Medical Council from 2002 to 2009, Pro Vice-Chancellor, University of London and Dean of Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ medical school between 2000 and 2005, Chief Scientist to the Scottish Executive Health Department from 1997 to 2000 and has held many other senior posts.
"Sir Graeme has long supported the concept of the team approach to clinical practice, with the patient as an integral member of the team. In his specialty of renal medicine, it is the preferred model for supporting those with complex chronic conditions.
"As Vice-Principal at King’s College, London and a member of the local Strategic Health Authority, Sir Graeme successfully promoted multidisciplinary education for all healthcare students in South East London. Although the importance of the team is increasingly recognized, Sir Graeme supports the College as the only UK organisation to forge an alliance of patients, doctors, scientists and healthcare professionals dedicated to improve health and healthcare."[1]
