"The Inspiration behind Global Trees: This came from an highly motivational speech by former US President Bill Clinton in Glasgow during summer 2006. His message was ‘there is only one problem facing the world.’ Other speakers included Jack McConnell, former First Minister of Scotland, and Steven Purcell of Glasgow City Council."

Peter Grant "and Colette Grant, the founders of Grant Management, joined forces with Bob Holt, chair of Mears Group to set up Global Trees. The whole idea is about putting something back, to make a difference.

"An initial personal donation of £14,000 from the founders helped set up this website and plant the initial 5,000 trees." [1]
