Erika Mann, Member, European Parliament
Erika Mann has been a member of the European Parliament since 1994. Ms. Mann is a member of the Committee on International Trade, where she coordinates the position of the European Socialists group. Ms Mann is also a substitute member of the Committee on Industry, External Trade, Research and Energy and the Committee on Budgetary Control.
Ms Mann is the President of the Delegation to the EU/Mexico Joint Parliamentary Committee. Furthermore, she is a substitute member of the Delegation for relations with the United States.
Ms. Mann concentrates on trade and WTO policy, transatlantic economic relations, digital economy, telecommunication policy and research policy. She is in charge of chemical policy for the PES within the ITRE committee. Ms Mann is also a leading member of the International Steering Committee for the common initiative of the European Parliament and the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) to create a parliamentary dimension to the World Trade Organisation.
Erika Mann chairs the Transatlantic Policy Network (TPN), is a founding member and chairperson of the European Internet Foundation (EIF), a member of the board of the Kangaroo Working Group and the chair of its Telecoms & Information Society working group- She is also a member of the Advisory Council of the European Policy Centre (EPC) and a Senator of the German Max-Planck-Society.
Ms. Mann is a former chairperson of the Delegation for Relations with Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova (1997-1999), and of the Delegation for relations with Switzerland, Iceland and Norway and to the European Economic Area (EEA) Joint Parliamentary Committee (2002-04), a member of the Delegation for Relations with the Countries of South Asia and the South Asia Association for Regional Co-operation (1999-2002). Erika Mann is the author of articles and publications on the WTO, transatlantic relations, electronic-commerce, and copyright in the Information Society.
