Eric Johnson "is currently Senior Advisor to Internews Network and the Executive Director of Internews International, an association of over 25 non-governmental organizations that provide media assistance. He has 15 years experience working in international assistance projects in the field of democracy and governance in countries in transition in Europe, Eurasia, Southeast Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.

"In the 1990s, Johnson managed seven country offices in Central Asia and the South Caucasus for Internews Network. In 2000, he was instrumental in founding the Global Internet Policy Initiative, a partnership between Internews Network and the Center for Democracy and Technology that advocates for healthy domestic internet policy in developing countries. Until 2004, Johnson served as the Director of Internews Europe, a French NGO with projects in over a dozen countries.

"Johnson has significant consulting experience working with various NGOs and donors in areas of research, strategy, management, project evaluation, and NGO startup, especially in developing countries. He sits on the boards of eight NGOs. He speaks and publishes on e-commerce, media development and law reform, and internet development through legal and policy assistance.

"Johnson has BAs from Grinnell College in Math and Russian; and an MA from Georgetown University in Government. He speaks English, Russian and French." [1]
