Biographical Information

"Ms Grace Edith Ssempala is an old-timer on East Africa’s diplomatic scene. She served for over 21 years as one of Uganda's top diplomats, nine of them as her country’ ambassador to the United States where she almost became synonymous with the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA). Prior to this, Ms. Ssempala was Ambassador to the Nordic countries (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden).

"Her last diplomatic posting before joining the World Bank, was as the Ugandan Permanent Representative to the African Union and the United Nation's Economic Commission for Africa, as well as Ambassador to Ethiopia and Djibouti."[1]
