"David Offensend is the Chief Operating Officer of America Achieves, an organization that helps communities and states leverage policy, practice, and leadership to build high quality educational systems. Prior to this role, he served as the Chief Operating Officer of The New York Public Library for 10 years. Previously, he spent nine years as Senior Advisor at Evercore Partners Inc., a private equity and investment banking firm he co-founded in 1995. Evercore provides merger and acquisition and restructuring advice to companies. Before founding Evercore, Mr. Offensend spent five years at Oak Hill Partners, the investment organization of Texas investor Robert M. Bass, where he was responsible for the leveraged acquisitions portfolio of Acadia Partners, L.P., a $1.8 billion investment partnership. Mr. Offensend also spent 13 years at Lehman Brothers, where he founded and built that firm’s merchant banking operations. While at Lehman, he served as President and Chief Executive Officer of the $1.3 billion Lehman Brothers Merchant Banking Partnership. " [1]
