Biographical Information

"David Coats is a research fellow at the Smith Institute and is an associate of the Centre for Public Service Partnerships. Previously he was associate director – policy at The Work Foundation 2004-2010 and head of economic and social affairs at the TUC 1999-2004. David is recognised as an expert commentator on employment relations, labour markets and the quality of work. He is the author of Raising Lazarus: The Future of Organised Labour (Fabian Society) and edited the volumes Exiting the Crisis (ETUI/TUAC/ITUC) and The Future of Good Work (Smith Institute). David was a member of the Low Pay Commission 2000-04 and currently serves on the Central Arbitration Committee (the Industrial Court for Great Britain). He was a councillor in the London borough of Haringey 1990-98."[1]
