The abbreviation for DNA Plant Technology is DNAP. In the early 1980's, Brown & Williamson Tobacco Corp. approached DNA Plant Technology Corp., which had developed a high-nicotine tobacco by conventional cross-breeding of different tobacco plants and advanced breeding techniques, such as getting plant cells to fuse in the test tube, a quicker way to transfer genetic traits from one plant to another (DJ 6/23/94; T. Sandefur S. 6/23/94). David Evans was vice president of business development in 1994 (DJ 6/23/94; LAT 9/15/94).
