Chris Leahy "was instrumental in the development of Mass Audubon’s travel program and has designed and led natural history education programs in over 70 countries. Before becoming the first holder of the Bertrand Chair in 2001, Leahy was Mass Audubon’s Director of Conservation for 18 years, overseeing the organization’s research, conservation, ecological management and publications programs. He is the author of The Birdwatcher’s Companion to North American Birdlife (Princeton, 2004), The Nature of Massachusetts (Addison-Wesley, 1996) and many other works of natural history." [1]
