CTIA-The Wireless Association (also referred to as CTIA, the acronym for Cellular Telecommunications and Internet Association) describes itself as "an international nonprofit membership organization founded in 1984, representing all sectors of wireless communications – cellular, personal communication services and enhanced specialized mobile radio."[1]

In 2002, CTIA established Mywireless.org, a front group which describes itself as "a non-profit consumer advocacy organization giving wireless consumers a powerful and unified voice to protect the freedom, value, security and mobility they enjoy with wireless services." [2]
