Biographical Information
"Mr. Wrobel serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Sithe Global Power. He founded Sithe Global Power in August 2004. With over twenty five years of experience in the development and financing of various power projects, Mr. Wrobel is also founder of Global Alumina Products Corporation, a company involved with the development and financing of a 2.8 mtpa alumina refinery in the Republic of Guinea. In 2004, Global Alumina successfully listed on the Toronto Venture Exchange and is now traded on the Toronto Stock Exchange. In 2007, he helped found Seacom Ltd., a company building an undersea fiber optic cable from Africa to Europe, expected to be commissioned in 2009. From 1986-1999, he was Executive Vice President of Sithe Energies, inc. In this capacity, Mr. Wrobel maintained responsibility for worldwide business development and project finance activities of one of the largest IPP's in the world. Mr. Wrobel began his career in 1981 by co-founding Mitex, inc., a Boston-based developer of small- scale hydroelectric projects. Mitex was sold in 1986 to an entity that then formed the nucleus of Sithe Energies. Mr. Wrobel has been responsible for the development or acquisitions of more than 50 power plants around the world. He also serves on the board of Guinea Alumina Corporation, Seacom Ltd., and All for Africa, a non-profit organization. Mr. Wrobel received a BS in both Economics and Management Science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology."[1]
