Ayatollah Ali Meshkini (1922-July 30, 2007[1]) is the chairman of the Assembly of Experts in the Islamic Republic of Iran.[2]
The Assembly of Experts is a body of 86 members.[3] It is exclusively reserved for Islamic clerics who are elected by voters every eight years.
Hospitalization
On 20 July 2007, the 85-year-old Ayatollah Meshkini fell into a coma.[4][5] A few days later, a think thank reported he was dead or "on the brink of death."[6] Later, he died before the start of August 2007.
