Ayatollah Jannati

Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati (born in 1926 in Esfahan) is an Iranian politician. He is the secretary of the Guardian Council.

One of the important roles of Jannati is approving the eligibility of political candidates. In July 2007, he promised that the upcoming legislative election would be "fair and healthy."[1]

Jannati wants the coalition forces to depart from Iraq and has said, "If the US and British forces evacuate Iraq, the country's popular government can deal with these terrorists."[2]

He is disdainful of non-Muslims, having said, "non-Muslims are animals that chew their cud and cause corruption on Earth." [3]
