Chicago-based Andersen Consulting - now Accenture - split from Chicago-based Arthur Andersen in 1989, but remained under Swiss-based parent company Andersen Worldwide Société Coopérative until becoming fully independent in August 2000. Required to change its name, it became Accenture on Jan. 1 2001.[1].
