Raufu Mustapha
Raufu Mustapha's "current research focuses on the politics of rural societies in Africa, ethnicity and identity politics and the politics of democratization in Africa.
"He studied political science at Ahmadu Bello University, Nigeria, and St. Peter's College, University of Oxford. He has held teaching and research positions at Beyero University, Kano, and Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria.
"He is a member of the editorial advisory group for the Review of African Political Economy, an adviser for the 'A Democratic Developmental State in Africa?' project for the Centre for Policy Studies (CPS) in Johannesburg, South Africa, and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Development Research and Projects Centre (dRPC), Kano, Nigeria. He has also been appointed to the Scientific Committee of the Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa (CODESRIA), Dakar, Senegal.
"Recent projects have included research on 'Ethnic Structure and Public Sector Governance' for United Nations Research Institute for Social Development (UNRISD) in Geneva. He also completed fieldwork and initial analysis of data for a project for the Centre for Research on Inequality, Human Security and Ethnicity (CRISE) on the effectiveness of the Federal Character Commission in Nigeria. Future projects include plans to initiate a CRISE project on cultural inequalities and conflict in Nigeria, and to compile a set of contributions on the contemporary politics of African states." [1]
