"Launched by Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations, Edward Luck and former Foreign Minister of Canada, Lloyd Axworthy in Bangkok on 20 February 2008, The Asia-Pacific Centre for the Responsibility to Protect (APR2P) is an Associate of the Global Centre for the Responsibility to Protect, based in New York.
"Housed at the prestigious University of Queensland in Australia and with offices situated across the region, the Centre will conduct research, policy work and engage in advocacy and outreach aimed at furthering acceptance of R2P within the Asia-Pacific Region and worldwide. APR2P will contribute to the development of concrete measures to realize R2P by working in cooperation with the Global Centre, government bodies and non-governmental organizations to support and enhance understanding, consensus and practical initiatives."
