The Brazilian Institute of Social and Economic Analyses (or IBASE) "was founded in 1981. It has the status of a federal nonprofit charitable organization, with no links to any religious institution or political party. Its mission is to build democracy by fighting inequalities and stimulating citizens’ participation." [1]

"Ibase has been deeply involved with the World Social Forum (WSF) ever since it was first held in Porto Alegre in 2001." [2]
