Ismail Royer is a former public relations representative for the Council on American-Islamic Relations.

Although Royer's public writings called for peaceful coexistence between Muslims and non-Muslims, in January 2004 he pleaded guilty to weapons and explosives charges in the prosecution of an alleged Islamic terrorist network in Virginia. [1]

In a written statement to the court, Royer said he had learned some "painful lessons" and took "full responsibility for (his) actions. The ends never justify the means and I am painfully aware of that today," he said before being sentenced to 20 years in prison.
