Background

The company states that while it is calling for bids for a 1320MW project "it has been decided to permit the selected developer to establish an Additional Unit of 660 MW at the selected plant location. To expedite the process, the Government of Uttar Pradesh shall facilitate the Land Acquisition and Water allocation for such Additional Unit."[1]

The project was issed Terms of Reference on March 11, 2010. Water will be used from Lower Ganga Canal.[2]
