Founders Lynne and Bill Twist work in close collaboration with e2k to craft an annual San Francisco luncheon in support of indigenous communities, stop rain forest destruction and develop transformative educational programs in South America." In 2012, "The Government of Botswana and Conservation International co-hosted the Summit for Sustainability in Africa, bringing together African heads of state and leaders from the private and independent sectors in a focused effort to explore how understanding, valuing and managing Africa’s natural capital can secure its future. e2k and Events for Change worked with Chris Wayne & Associates to produce this important gathering of African heads of state. The Summit immediately preceded the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, just a month later." [3]
In 2012, "The sixth annual Singularity Summit, hosted by the Machine Intelligence Research Institute (formerly the Singularity Institute), was held at the Masonic Center in San Francisco on October 13-14. More than 500 of the Bay Area’s top futurists, geneticists, robotics engineers and technologists attended the two-day conference to hear from a world class lineup of speakers who presented the latest advances and trends in artificial intelligence, augmented reality, and more. The headliner for the 2012 Singularity Summit was the Transcendent Man himself, Ray Kurzweil, delivering the keynote address. Kurzweil was joined by experimental psychologist Steven Pinker, 23andme c0founder Linda Avey, autism advocate Temple Grandin, bestselling author Carl Zimmer, technology superstars Peter Norvig and Vernor Vinge, and many more. Nobel prize-winning physiologist Daniel Kahneman joined the Summit by webcast from his home in Princeton, New Jersey." [4]
