James C. Ho
James C. "Jim" Ho is Majority Chief Counsel of "the U.S. Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights, and Property Rights, chaired by U.S. Senator John Cornyn of Texas, since February 2003. Jim previously served for two years at the U.S. Department of Justice. He was appointed Special Assistant to the Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights in March 2001, and joined the Office of Legal Counsel shortly after September 11, 2001. Prior to joining the Justice Department, he was a law clerk for Judge Jerry E. Smith of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and an associate in the Appellate and Constitutional Law practice group of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP. He is senior editor of the Green Bag (www.greenbag.org) and an occasional writer in the area of constitutional and public law. Jim graduated in 1999 with high honors from the University of Chicago Law School, where he was appointed to the University of Chicago Law Review, elected to the Order of the Coif, and recognized with the Ann Watson Barber Award for Outstanding Service. Before law school, Jim served as legislative aide to then-state Senator Quentin L. Kopp (I-San Francisco). He graduated with honors from Stanford University in 1995 with a B.A. in Public Policy."
