Congo Global Action "began simply, with a few conversations in early summer of 2006. While grassroots movements for Darfur and for Uganda gained worldwide constituencies to raise the public's awareness of these two crises, conflict in the DR Congo remained relatively unknown to the general public. In response, representatives of a few NGOs in Washington, DC decided that something had to be done to create a similarly active grassroots movement for the Congo." [1]

"On March 30-31, 2008 the Congo Global Action Coalition in cooperation with the U. S. Holocaust Memorial Museum will hold a conference to raise awareness about the ongoing conflict in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Triggered by the 1994 genocide in Rwanda, the complex crisis in the Congo has claimed the lives of 5.4 million people since 1998." [2]
