"Philippe Roch is a recognised figure in the field of environmental protection and natural preservation, on a local, national and international level. He first served as a municipal councillor in his home commune of Lancy in Geneva, before becoming a member of Geneva Canton's Parliament. He then became a member of WWF's national executive team and CEO of WWF Switzerland. In 1992, he was appointed head of the Swiss Agency for the Environment, Forests and Landscape, a position he filled for 13 years, representing Switzerland as Secretary of State in international negotiations, serving as chair of several Conventions, and twice as Co-chair of the Board of Directors of the Global Environment Facility (GEF/FEM).

"Today, Mr Roch is a member of the committee on ethics and deontology of the University of Geneva; he collaborates with the Faculty of Geosciences and the Environment at the University of Lausanne.
