==Second John Doe Investigation==
On October 21, 2013, Dan Bice of the ''Milwaukee Journal Sentinel'' reported another John Doe is under way, with prosecutors investigating possible campaign finance violations and other state issues in five counties.
The investigation is a further examination of a number of leads turned up by an earlier John Doe probe.î<ref name="jsonline"/>
According to the ''Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:" Sources familiar with the probe told the Journal Sentinel that it was scrutinizing a wide variety of state-related issues, including the recall races," Bice writes. "Sources suggested the probe is looking at a current legislative leader and the governor's contest."<ref name="jsonline"/>
The probe only came to light in October 2013, but was reportedly initiated in February 2012 -- in the midst of Governor Walker's recall election and during the first John Doe investigation.

When asked about the latest John Doe, Walker said:
“'I’m not going to get pulled into that, one way or another. Because if somebody was (contacted) and they said they were, they’d be in violation of that,' Walker said, in apparent reference to the secrecy order that commonly accompanies such investigations. 'If they weren’t, they’d be speculating on something that they’re not involved in. So either way, it doesn’t make any sense to get involved with that.'” <ref>Dee Hall and Mary Spicuzza, [http://host.madison.com/wsj/news/local/govt-and-politics/governor-senate-leader-mum-on-latest-criminal-probe/article_5883b15b-1c92-56db-a63c-09abadcbb993.html Governor, Senate leader mum on latest criminal probe], Wisconsin State Journal, October 23, 2013. </ref>
The investigation is led by former federal prosecutor Francis Schmitz -- who was once a finalist for U.S. Attorney under George W. Bush -- and is being overseen by Kenosha County Judge Barbara A. Kluka.
==Repudiation of the United Sportsmen of Wisconsin Grant==
On August 29, 2013, The United Sportsmen of Wisconsin Foundation (ìUnited Sportsmenî) was named the recipient of a $500,000 grant by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. The endowment came under intense scrutiny, as United Sportsmen was the sole applicant for the grant. The grant was poorly advertised and included terms that excluded most sporting groups in the state, despite its alleged purpose to promote hunting, fishing and trapping in Wisconsin.<ref name="group"/> Moreover, United Sportsmen had no record of outdoors training - but according to the ''Milwaukee Journal Sentinel,'' did demonstrate "close ties to GOP politicians."<ref name=Sportsmen> Paul Smith and Jason Stein, [http://www.jsonline.com/news/statepolitics/dnr-ousts-longtime-operator-of-environmental-center-b9991886z1-222615021.html Scott Walker Cancels $500,000 Grant to Sportsmen's Group with GOP Ties], ''Milwaukee Journal Sentinel'', September 5, 2013.</ref>
Assembly Majority Leader at the time, [[Scott Suder]], was reportedly the organizer of the deal. According to the ''Milwaukee Journal Sentinel'':
