This article is part of the Center for Media & Democracy's spotlight on front groups and corporate spin.

The Coalition for Vehicle Choice was created by the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers to fight against higher fuel efficiency standards. Ironically, the AAM claims that "automakers are investing billions to develop and introduce breakthrough technologies that will lead to significant fuel economy gains."

On its website the group claimed that it represented "more than 40,000 organizations and individuals committed to protecting safe and affordable transportation."[1]

The organisation is now defunct and the domain name up for sale.
