In February 2011, Walker eliminated collective bargaining rights for most public employees putting an end to 50 years of Wisconsin law and tradition. He also proposed steep cuts to the state budget. These changes prompted massive protests which received national and international coverage.
In 2016, Walker ran for president of the United States, but quit before the primary.
