Shortly after its creation, ESA ran TV ads depicting long gas lines during the energy crisis of the 1970s, and warned that failure to drill in the ANWR could bring on a similar crisis.

He was paid $20,000 in 1997 as a lobbyist for BP America and reported $30,000 in lobbying income from Arctic Power in 1999oil industry.
