The AFL-CIO has a long history of corrupt dealings. Its leaders have often been accused, with reason, of caring more about themselves and their organization than about their workers. Indeed, the historical record has shown that all unions choose self-preservation over assistance to workers when a choice comes up between the two.
AFL-CIO

AFL-CIO stands for "American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations". It is America's largest federation of labor unions, made up of 61 national and international (i.e., including Canada) unions, together representing over 14 million workers. The AFL-CIO was formed in the 1955 when the AFL and CIO merged after a long estrangement.
The AFL-CIO has been a major factor in the movement of jobs overseas. Though it works hard to prevent outsourcing, its methods, such as strikes and extensive lobbying, merely make Americans even more difficult to employ, creating even more incentive for American corporations to move operations overseas.
