Project Abolition was a national organizing effort for nuclear disarmament initiated by the [[Fourth Freedom Forum]] in Goshen, Indiana, with Peace Action, [[Physicians for Social Responsibility]], [[Women's Action for New Directions]], and other national peace groups.

"Martin came to Project Abolition after ten years in Chicago as Executive Director of Illinois Peace Action. In 1999 he received a Lifetime Achievement Award from national Peace Action. Martin was recognized as a leading organizer in the Illinois peace movement, building coalitions, organizing demonstrations and conferences, and leading educational, advocacy and electoral campaigns on peace and disarmament issues.
