Stephen Weiswasser, "a partner in the law firm of Covington & Burling since April 1998, provides legal and strategic assistance to companies in the rapidly changing media, telecommunications and new media industries. From July 1999 to January 2001, Mr. Weiswasser also served as Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Gemstar-TV Guide International, Inc.

"Prior to joining Covington, Mr. Weiswasser was President and Chief Executive Officer of Americast, a joint venture of SBC Communications, Ameritech, BellSouth, GTE, Southern New England Telephone and The Walt Disney Company, which he served from its inception in November 1995 until March 1998.

"From January 1986 to November 1995 Mr. Weiswasser served as Senior Vice President of Capital Cities/ABC, Inc. In addition to being a Senior Vice President of the Company, Mr. Weiswasser was President of the Capital Cities/ABC Multimedia Group, a position he held from August 1993 to November 1995. In that position, Mr. Weiswasser was responsible for centralizing and expanding the Company's activities in new and emerging technologies. From October 1991 to January 1993, Mr. Weiswasser served as Executive Vice President of ABC News. Prior to that, from January 1991, he served as Executive Vice President of the ABC Television Network Group, with broad policy and day-to-day responsibilities for the operations of the ABC Television Network. Mr. Weiswasser served as General Counsel of Capital Cities/ABC, Inc., a position that he held from January 1986 to January 1991.

"Mr. Weiswasser joined Capital Cities/ABC from the Washington, D.C. law firm of Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering, with which he had been associated since 1967. He was a partner at Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering from 1974 until he joined Capital Cities/ABC in 1986. He had previously served as a law clerk to the Honorable David L. Bazelon, Chief Judge, U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.

"Mr. Weiswasser serves on the Boards of Directors of, among others, the Greater Washington Educational Television Association (WETA), the Center for Communications, the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation and Arena Stage. He is a past President of the International Radio and Television Society Foundation.

"Mr. Weiswasser lives in Washington, D.C. He is married to Andrea Timko and has four children: Jonathan, Gayle, Anne and Emily." [1]
