Sir John Ivan Charody

David Hickie noted that: "In mid-1974 John Ivan Charody, a director of Parkes Development, accompanied Askin on part of his mysterious two-month European tour, which included communist Hungary, Charody's native land. When this emerged, Opposition leader Neville Wran demanded a judicial inquiry into the Government's links with Parkes Development. Askin declined, stating: 'Mr Charody is a personal friend and his knowledge of the language and the country was invaluable.'" [1]
