Scott C. Schurz "was named honorary president for life by the Inter American Press Association at its general assembly Oct. 7-11 in Indianapolis" 2006.

"Scott was publisher of the Herald-Times from 1966 until 2002, when he went into semi-retirement and was replaced by E. Mayer Maloney, Jr. Schurz still holds the title of publisher of the Sunday Hoosier Times.

"He also is vice president of the board of directors of Schurz Communications Inc., which owns the Herald-Times and ten other daily newspapers and multiple weekly and niche publications. It also has five television stations, owns or operates ten radio stations, two cable television companies, advertising shopper publications and a printing company." [1]

He is US vice president of the World Association of Newspapers.
