Red Cavaney

Red Cavaney Red Cavaney was the former President and Chief Executive Officer of the American Petroleum Institute, a position he held from 1997 until November 2008.[1]

Background

For the previous twelve years he had worked respectively as president and CEO of the American Paper Institute (1983), and then after its merger with two other organisations as President and CEO of the American Forest & Paper Association. From 1994 to 1997 he President and CEO of the American Plastics Council.[2]

According to a biographical note he had worked "as a senior member of the White House staffs of U.S. Presidents Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford and Ronald Reagan. "On Inuguration Day in 1981, Cavaney joined the Reagan White House as Deputy Assistant to the President for Public Liaison, where he developed successful strategies for building private sector coalitions in support of President Reagan's legislative initiatives," a biographical note states.[2]
