James Wesley Johnston was Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of R.J. Reynolds c. 1989-95, and was CEO of R.J. Reynolds' domestic division c. 1989.
In a statement before the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health and the Environment on April 14, 1994, James W. Johnson stated that "cigarette smoking is no more 'addictive' than coffee,tea or Twinkies." [1]
