J. Walter Thompson, a subsidiary of WPP, describes itself as the world's oldest advertising company.
Thompson was the advertising agency for LARK cigarettes in 1969. A November 20, 1969 "extremely confidential" Lorillard memorandum reveals that Ron Zeigler, one of President Richard Nixon's aides and his P.R. man during the 1968 Presidential campaign, was associated with J. Walter Thompson on the West Coast.[1]
Thompson agency was also involved in developing ads for Brown & Williamson's FACT cigarettes in 1977.[2]
