The Iran Teachers Association (ITA) (also known as "Mehregan") is described by the National Endowment for Democracy as an organisation "dedicated to the preservation and development of the cultural heritage and the democratic aspirations of the Iranian people. Mehregan aims to be a forum for free discussion and responsible discourse on all issues that face Iranians with the goal of building civil society and a democratic Iran." [1]
The website listed by NED on its website, http://www.mehregan.org, is no longer operational.
Funding
According to Media Transparency, in 1992 the ITA received $25,000 from the Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation. [2]
They have also received funding from the National Endowment for Democracy.
