Garda World Security Corporation is an Ontario, Canada based security company founded in the 1990's specializing in armored car services, physical security with over 7,000 security officers, electronic security, and investigative services. Garda has grown annually with consistent acquisitions of companies in the security industry, finally breaking into the American market in 2005 with the purchase of UAS and Vance.
Acquisitions
- On October 16, 2000, Garda announced the completion of their acquisition of Riscon Services Limited, a security company offering security detail for commercial retailing, investigations, security consulting and security guards. [1]
- On November, 24, 2000, Garda announced the finalization of their acquisition of SOFTManagement, Inc., "a Canadian based company specializing in designing and marketing propriety software products intended for security management, emergency management and business continuity management." [2]
- On September 29, 2003, Garda announced it had concluded the acquisition of the Federation des Caisses Desjardins subsidiary, Secur, a cash transportation company. [3][4]
- On May 9, 2005, Garda announced their acquisition of Signature Group, an Alberta security company, for $1.08 million. [5]
- On November 7, 2005, Garda announced the acquisition of Ontario Guard Services, an Ontario based security company founded in 1973. [6]
- On December 1, 2005, Garda completed their acquisition of the American company United Armored Services. [7]
- On January 18, 2006, Garda completed their acquisition on Vance International, the security division of the SPX Corporation [8]
Contracts
- On January 22, 2004, Garda announced it had received "the mandate from the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority for managing the airport Screening Security Services at the largest airport in Canada," Toronto International. [9]
- On June 23, 2004, Garda of Canada, a Garda World subsidiary, assumed the contract for passenger and baggage security screening at the Pierre Elliot Trudeau and Mirabel International Airports in Montreal, Canada. [10]
- On July 11, 2005, Garda announced they have taken over all screening operations at Edmonton International and Fort McMurray Airports in Alberta as of July 1, 2005. [11]
