Daniel Leesong

Daniel Leesong was chief of staff for the former Tasmanian Premier Paul Lennon. Prior to his appointment to Lennon's office in April 2007,[1]Leesong was the chief executive of the Tourism Council of Tasmania.

Leesong replaced Rod Scott, who became the head of the Tasmanian government's media unit. (Scott replaced former ABC television reporter Rod Wallis.) In June 2008, the new Tasmanian Premier, David Bartlett replaced Leesong with Terry Field, the brother of former Tasmanian Premier Michael Field. Leesong was guaranteed that he would be appointed to an "equivalent" position in the government. Leesong was guaranteed and equivalently piad position in the public service.[2]

Road Review

In July 2008, the Minister for Economic Development and Tourism, Paula Wriedt announced that Lessong had been appointed to undertake a three-month round of consultations on the proposed construction of a road through part of the Tarkine wilderness. The state government had allocated $23 million funding in the State budget.[3]
