Changing Places: Life in Provincial Victoria
Changing Places: Life in Provincial Victoria was an hour-long Australian television program broadcast on Channel Nine on Easter Sunday 2009 in the state of Victoria. The program, promoted provincial Victoria, Paul Austin reported in The Age, "as a good place to live, work, run a business and raise a family." The program was funded to the tune of $222,000 by the Victorian state government and was hosted by Channel Nine personalities Glenn Ridge and Nikki Osborne.[1]
The use of public funding for a television program was defended by the Regional and Rural Development Minister, Jacinta Allan. "For $222,000, it has been a very effective way to communicate with people in Melbourne who may not have otherwise been given the opportunity to see what's on offer," Ms Allan said. "It's incredibly important to continue to demonstrate that provincial Victoria is a go-ahead place, that there's a lot of activity, that they are vibrant communities with job opportunities and great opportunities for kids through good education institutions."[1]
