The Canadian Federal Election was held June 28th, 2004. As in most British-style parliamentary systems, the exact timing is chosen within some strict constraints by Paul Martin the sitting Prime Minister of Canada. Mr. Martin disolved parliament and called for the election on May 23rd. He is believed to have delayed the election due to a major scandal which affected his Liberal Party of Canada in the polls. Voters re-elected Martin as Prime Minister, however Martin's Liberals now hold a minority of seats in Parliament, and must now work with opposition parties in order to have legislation passed.
